WHERE I WAS TEN YEARS AGO:
I woke up early in the morning, brushed my teeth and got ready for school. I remember walking by the front door watching my parents watch the television. It looked like a cool movie with airplanes, and buildings and burning. I didn’t give it much thought.
Come first period. English class. The morning announcements came on and the tone wasn’t light. The principal broke the news to the whole school and we were all sitting there in class stunned but speechless. 13 year olds don’t fully comprehend the magnitude of such events. But I remember this day, ten years ago, because even though it happened half way around the country, it has forever changed the landscape for our generation. That was our World War I & II.
And it wasn’t a cool movie.
